The initial stages of your journey through the idyllic Bernese Oberland give you a foretaste of the spectacular destination you are heading to. The trip from Bern leads through the Aare valley, past the deep-blue waters of Lake Thun, through cozy villages and picturesque landscapes. Even from a distance the snowcapped triple peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau welcome you.
The Eiger Express, the world's most modern 3S train, shortens the journey time by a whole 47 minutes - and allows guests to marvel at the legendary north face of the Eiger at close quarters on the way from the Grindelwald terminal to the Eiger Glacier station. Visitors can then take the over 100-year-old Jungfraubahn to the highest train station in Europe at 3,454 metres above sea level. The ride on the cogwheel train from station Eigerglacierto the UNESCO-designated Jungfraujoch offers an unforgettable experience. The train covers the majority of the almost 10 kilometers to the final station in a rock tunnel. The tunnel traverses the Eiger and Mönch mountains and ascends around 1,400 meters to reach its final destination. During a short stopover at the “Eismeer” station, you will get a taste of what’s to come. Large windows provide a view of the surrounding mountain landscape and spectacular glaciers.

At the summit, the literal high point of the trip awaits you. With an icy breeze blowing on your face and the snow crunching underfoot, you can enjoy an incomparable panoramic view of the high-Alpine mountain paradise of ice, snow and rock. Whether you’re on the Sphinx or Plateau viewing platforms or on the Aletsch Glacier itself – the panorama is world-famous and attracts visitors from around the globe.
In addition to the splendid vista, the “roof of Europe” offers other exciting attractions. An ice palace in the building’s interior and 30 meters below the glacier’s surface invites you to take a fascinating tour of its artistic ice sculptures and the “Alpine Sensation”, an exhibition about the 100-year history of the Jungfraubahn railway. The audio-guided «Discovery Tour» takes guests from one highlight to the next via smartphone. Various restaurants, the “Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven” with an extensive selection of chocolates, the highest post office with its own zip code and the Top of Europe souvenir shops ensure that you will have a memorable time.
