Ein Freiluftkino in Bern: Die Abenddämmerung lässt die historische Architektur im Hintergrund leuchten, während eine Menge in gestreiften Liegestühlen gespannt auf die grosse Leinwand im Marzili Opernairkino blickt. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und gemeinschaftlich, als würde die ganze Stadt zusammenkommen, um die Magie des Films unter dem Sternenhimmel zu geniessen.

Tzatziki, rebetiko and great movies: this year, everything at the open-air cinema series Marzili Movie revolves around Greece. For over 20 years, the event at the Marzili public pool has been taking moviegoers to destinations all over the world – without ever leaving Bern.

Every summer, Marzili Movie invites its audience to discover the greatest international films. This year, it’s Greece’s turn. Films, traditional music and typical culinary specialities bring the flair of the Mediterranean country to Bern. The programme includes films such as the black-and-white romantic comedy “Never on Sunday”, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song, and newer films like the comedy “The Summer with Carmen”.

Take a seat on one of the deckchairs, enjoy films, traditional music and “öppis feins” (yummy treats) under the open skies with a view of Bern’s beautiful UNESCO-listed old town and embark on a cinematic journey to Greece.

Doors and bar open at 8:00 p.m., with the film starting at 9:45 p.m. In case of bad weather, the curtain stays closed. Last-minute cancellations will be announced at 6:00 p.m. on the Marzili Movie website and via social media channels.

Tickets will be available from 23 June 2025 via the Marzili Movie website or directly at Orell Füssli, Spitalgasse 18/20.
