The circuit for beginners starts at the Gurnigel-Wasserscheide with an initial easy ascent to warm up. The trail then leads on an easy descent through the snow-covered forest. At the first junction, the trail turns right uphill deeper into the forest. The route now leads steadily up and down to the next junction, where you turn left into the somewhat steeper descent into the Chaltweh. After the short, steep descent, the route climbs steadily back to the first junction. There you have the option of doing the loop again or you can ski back to the Gurnigel watershed on an easy ascent and a rapid descent. Along the way, cross-country skiers are accompanied by wonderful views of the Gantrisch and Nünene. The four kilometres and 70 metres in altitude can therefore be completed with ease - perhaps even several times.
Tip from the author
For beginners - practise the various braking techniques on the easy & steeper descents to prepare yourself for bigger challenges.
