The Gantrisch is a true cross-country skiing paradise: here you will find a wonderful Alpine panorama with views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the view of Lake Thun, snow-covered forests, and 28 miles of perfectly groomed trails.

Starting from Selital, there is a first climb to the cabin of the cross-country skiing center. Then the track leads gently up and down towards the watershed. On the first section, always in sight: the magnificent panorama with Bürgle, Gantrisch, and Nünenenfluh. At the turning point, you have to manage another climb. The effort is rewarded – with a view of the Bernese Alps and over the Thun region.

The return route leads the trail slightly above the already covered track. It now mainly runs through the forest. Inexperienced cross-country skiers can follow the "easy descent" sign about halfway down to the road.

For everyone else, the varied trail offers short climbs and thrilling descents.

The route can also be skied from the watershed. It is accessible by post bus from Schwarzenburg, Riggisberg Post, and Thurnen Station.
