A leisurely ride on an e-bike or a more sporty ride without a motor: no matter which bike you choose, the 31-kilometre circular tour in the Laupen region inspires cyclists to pause and reflect on time. And along the way, guests learn about the origins of the famous local dish "Bärner Platte", among other things. A ride on the Laupen time loop is an unforgettable "paselitang" (Bernese expression for passing the time, derived from the French "passer le temps").

The route runs along the existing cycle paths 888, 34 and 74 and is best explored in an anticlockwise direction. The SwitzerlandMobility map will help you find your way.

Tip from the author

Please note the current detour of the route between Laupen and Neuenegg.

Allow a little more time and stroll through the charming little town of Laupen with its historic castle.

Many restaurants and cafés are closed on Sundays and Mondays or have irregular opening hours. To avoid having to cycle to the next door with a hungry stomach, we recommend checking the opening times on the restaurants' websites in advance.

Rent a Bike

Reserve your preferred bicycle – with or without a motor – at the Bernese company Rent a Bike by Bern’s main station or at the TCS Camping Bern Eymatt campground. The reserved bike can then be picked up at and returned to the chosen location.
