Mission, culture and strategy

We understand tourism as an enriching encounter which is characterised by curiosity and an interest in other people as well as in their living space and culture. As the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) of the destination Bern with the subdivisions Gantrisch Nature Park, Emmental Region, Oberaargau Region and Laupen, we are bringing together various players along the tourism service chain.

The photo shows a snow-covered landscape above Bern with a view of the Bundeshaus. The snow-covered trees and the calm River Aare lend the scene a peaceful winter tranquillity.

Strategic marketing combined with the Bernese joie-de-vivre

  • Mission

Networking is at the centre of our work, and we use that to position and develop the destination and strengthen its competitiveness in the market in an innovative and resource-saving way.

  • Vision

Together we make sure that everybody can experience the Bernese joie-de-vivre.

  • Understanding

We understand tourism in its original form: as an enriching encounter which is characterised by curiosity and an interest in other people as well as their living space and culture.

Bern Welcome’s corporate culture

The implementation of our corporate strategy can only succeed if the people involved have a vested interest. An agile organisation requires an active exchange and an interest in upstream and downstream work steps.

It enables personal initiative and direct collaboration across hierarchical and team boundaries. Corporate culture is an active culture. It thrives on shared goals and feedback. Everyone can contribute and present their ideas – that’s how we live the culture in our daily collaborations.

  • Diversity

    • Diversity We are committed to a balanced mix of genders and age groups, and distance ourselves from discrimination, marginalisation and violence. We are interested in and understand other points of view and see diversity as an opportunity to learn from one another.

  • Education

We promote and challenge the skills of our employees, and offer them specialised further training, internally and externally.

  • Lifestyle and understanding of tourism

With our vision, everyone who visits the destination of Bern can experience the Bernese joie-de-vivre.

  • Cooperation

We value objective discussion, solution-oriented collaboration and a respectful feedback culture, and foster open dialogue across all hierarchical levels. We give and take responsibility and thus enable personal initiative.

  • Networking and success

We seek out, know and understand the characteristics and differences of our markets, topics and strategic business sectors. We align ourselves with the needs of our target groups and stakeholders and develop competitive thematic clusters, and bring together players from different sectors without losing sight of the entire tourism service chain.

  • Trust

We take care to maintain benevolent relationships and to honour our agreements. We include partners and colleagues in our considerations and create understanding between different parties. We work towards common goals, a common corporate strategy and excellent services.
