Steeped in history: the National horse Center up close
The National Equestrian Centre (NPZ) in Bern was founded as a cooperative in 1997 when the Federal Military Horse Institute EMPFA closed its doors. In the twenty years since it was founded, the NPZ has developed into a modern, versatile equestrian centre.

Crockery and trolley collection
The EMPFA's historical collection of crockery and carriages - which is currently owned by the Swiss Confederation - can still be admired today on an exciting guided tour. The collection contains artefacts from the last and penultimate century, is looked after by the Central Office for Historical Army Material and is part of the Confederation's national heritage.
Blacksmith event
The NPZ is home to one of the most beautiful blacksmiths in Switzerland. Our blacksmiths still work with the classic forge fire and shoe horses in the historic shoeing room of the former EMPFA. At the team event, the focus is not on horseshoes for a change, but on making barbecue skewers or fondue forks.
Exploring Bern with horsepower
A leisurely carriage ride gives guests a new perspective of Bern's beautiful UNESCO-listed Old Town.
