The picture shows two historic Bernmobil vehicles side by side: a green vintage bus with the inscription "Ostermundigen - Bern - Bümpliz" and a steam-powered tram locomotive. Both vehicles are parked in front of a depot and have been carefully restored to preserve the nostalgic charm of times gone by. The bus with its classic route and the steam-powered vehicle, from which a cloud of smoke rises, represent the beginnings of public transport in Bern. This combination of vehicles offers a unique representation of the city's transport history.
The picture shows historic Bernmobil trams on display in a depot or museum. The vehicles have been carefully restored to their classic green and white livery. Each tram bears nostalgic signage such as "Extrawagen" or "Ostring" and is decorated with small Swiss and Bernese flags. The exhibition offers an insight into the development of public transport in Bern and preserves the charm of times gone by. Visitors can experience these pieces of transport history at close quarters.
The picture shows the perspective from a moving historic bus, driven by a driver in traditional dress. A green, historic tram can be seen through the windscreen, presumably part of a nostalgic event or demonstration. The scene takes place in a typical Bernese neighbourhood with characteristic houses and traffic lights, which underlines the connection to everyday life and the city's transport history. Such rides offer a special opportunity to experience historic vehicles in the context of today's cityscape.

Several times a year, there are public city tours with the historic vehicles of the foundation BERNMOBIL historique. Go for a ride in an old steam tram that still runs on steam today, a vintage electric tram, or the historic «Schnauzenbus» number five. The tours take passengers through the heart of Bern’s historic, UNESCO-listed old town.

Seasonal themed tours are also organised for individuals and small groups. They include the Fondue Tram, the Treberwurst Tram, or the St. Nicholas Tram.

If you’re interested in the history of public transport, we recommend a guided tour with your group at the Tram Museum in Bern Weissenbühl. The museum is also open to the public on a few days a year. Most of its employees are volunteers who also take care of the maintenance of the historic vehicles in their free time.
