Weltacker Attiswil

The Weltacker in Attiswil illustrates – on a true-to-scale area of 2,000 square metres – which crops are grown worldwide. That’s exactly the amount of arable land available to each person on Earth. But is it enough to feed and sustain us?

At the Weltacker, global interconnections become visible and tangible. The 2,000-square-metre plot shows which crops are cultivated worldwide, in what proportions and for what purposes: from grains to cotton, from animal feed to chocolate. It highlights which plants contribute to food and supply chains, and how consumption affects soil, water, climate and biodiversity.

Free admission to the Weltacker

The Weltacker is a place of learning and discovery – inviting visitors to marvel and reflect. Engaging guided tours deepen understanding of global food systems and encourage discussion about justice and sustainability.

Schools, in particular, benefit from this open-air classroom: hands-on activities link knowledge with sensory experiences, making complex topics easier to grasp. The Weltacker broadens horizons and vividly demonstrates how everyday choices are closely tied to agriculture, the environment and global resources.
