The Herzschlaufe Burgdorf leads eastward into the "Wynigenberge", which magically offer a maze of small roads where you can enjoy yourself wonderfully. Along the way, you will be guided to small sights such as the historic inn "zum wilden Mann" (currently closed) in Ferrenberg or the "Glungge" in Brechershäusern, which served as a backdrop in the Gotthelf films and still impresses today. The 48 kilometers fly by and offer wonderful opportunities for a drink or a rest with a view into the distance.
Dining options: Along the route, cozy inns and small farm taverns await you. Some restaurants and cafés have irregular opening hours. To avoid riding hungry to the next door, we recommend checking the opening hours on the venues' websites in advance.
Tip from the author
From the hamlet of Ferrenberg, a 5-minute walk to the "Oberbüelchnubel", a hill with a magnificent view.

Directions
The route takes you into the intimate Emmental hills around Burgdorf, with the hill cascade of the "Wynigenberge" being particularly attractive as it forms a viewpoint over the Mittelland and repeatedly offers views of the Jura and Alps. Starting from the proud castle town of Burgdorf, you climb to the viewpoint Lueg via small roads and reach the country inn Ferrenberg after a relaxed descent. Magnificent farmhouses and lush greens please your eye. After a few more kilometers, the route finds a passage to the flat area where the Emmental extends into the plains. A final hill section brings you back to Burgdorf via forest paths, where you arrive with a view of the castle.
The eastern loop takes guests to the "Wynigenberge", this wonderfully located hill cascade on the edge of the Mittelland. Here the views towards Jura and Alps pile up, and some highlights can be experienced that you would hardly have expected. The "Glungge" from the Gotthelf films still fascinates today.
