Langnau heart loop | 499

This heart loop is just like the Emmental: lush, tasty, and extremely hearty. The almost 70 kilometers on the fully signposted Veloland route No. 499 leave a trace of rural happiness in the mind, paired with a few tired legs and an empty battery.

The Langnau heart loop is an ode to the Emmental: versatile, expansive, and extremely rich. From the green heights near Eggiwil over the unexpected castles at Konolfingen to the secret ridge locations near Oberthal, you experience an Emmental that hardly could be imagined more beautifully. Fresh country air fills the lungs, and cycling is once again a poem. It is no coincidence that this area is called “Hügu Himu”.

Dining options: Cozy inns and small farm taverns await you along the route. Some restaurants and cafés have irregular opening hours. To avoid cycling to the next door with hungry stomachs, we recommend checking the opening hours on the establishments’ websites in advance.

Directions

The 68-kilometer-long route showed the culture and landscape that made the Emmental famous: wonderful ridge locations, lush building culture, and small roads for cozy cycling.

The circular route climbs the heights of Blapbach, visits the wild Emme in Eggiwil, finds secret paths into the little-known Linden above the Aare valley, and offers no fewer than three castles along the way. In addition, the Langnau loop allows plenty of time and leisure to circle all the hills and cows that make the Emmental the “Hügu Himu,” the Eldorado for pleasure cyclists.

Spend the night in the Emmental

We recommend enjoying your bike trip at a slower pace and spending the night in the Emmental. Guests have the choice: would you prefer to spend the night on a farm or in a traditional inn?
