Past Marzili, along the Aare to the Bern Zoo, Dählhölzli, then downstream to the Bern Zoo, BearPark and Lorraine Bath up to Engehalde (the straight section in this area is perfect for a short interval training!). The return goes through the Matten district. The roughly eleven-kilometer-long route offers a good impression of Bern: old town, bears, nature and the Aare – a cross-section of things you simply have to experience in Bern.

Construction notice: The Schönausteg will be renovated and dismantled from October 2024 until spring 2025. But don’t worry, 250 meters downstream there is a replacement bridge over the Aare.
