The picture shows a traditional farmhouse with an idyllic cottage garden. The blooming roses, lavender and other plants lend the garden a romantic atmosphere. The wooden fence and shutters emphasise the rustic charm of the house.
The picture shows an elegant, minimalist exhibition space with a warm wooden interior and targeted lighting. Works of art and historical documents are displayed in frameless showcases and on black-panelled walls. The room is modern, calm and inviting.
The picture shows the studio of the famous Swiss painter Albert Anker. The room is full of artistic inspiration: An easel with an unfinished canvas, painting utensils, bookshelves, busts, sketches and framed works of art adorn the studio. The rustic wood panelling, the artistic details on the wall and the fireplace give the room an authentic, creative atmosphere. This studio seems to have been a place of intense creativity where Anker created his famous works.

Permanent exhibition

The centrepiece is the permanent exhibition in the former storage room, spanning two floors. 15 themed areas present the artist’s life and work. The exhibition is bilingual, self-explanatory, complemented with audiovisual media and open all year round.

Residence and studio

The house and studio can only be accessed as part of a guided tour. The largely original interior reflects the bourgeois lifestyle of the Anker family, offering a glimpse into their world. A highlight of the visit is the unique and almost unaltered attic studio, where time appears to have stood still. Guided tours take place twice daily and can be booked online.

Art pavilion

The award-winning art pavilion, home to the original works from the foundation’s collector, also serves as a venue for temporary exhibitions that explore themes from the permanent exhibition in greater depth.

Visitor offerings vary by season, and tickets can be booked online.
