Thousands of people come together in solidarity at the Bern Pride to take a stand and show their support for the queer community. The colourful crowd gathers on Waisenhausplatz at 1 p.m. for the opening speeches before making its way through the city: past the Zytglogge (Clock Tower) to Nydeggstalden at the tip of the old town, along the River Aare and then down Brückenstrasse to Bundesplatz. The lively parade is accompanied by several vehicles blasting music, heating up the atmosphere even more and transforming the streets of Bern into one big dancefloor.

Upon arrival at Parliament Square, a varied programme awaits:  there are speeches, drag shows and a joyous, celebratory atmosphere. In keeping with the motto, most of the acts are from the Bern area. If you are still on your feet by the late evening and in the mood for more, there are plenty of options to keep going.
