Berner Nachhaltigkeitstage (Bern Sustainability Days)

Which clothes will I be able to enjoy for years to come? What’s the most sustainable way to get from point A to point B? What nourishes my body while at the same time protecting nature? The Berner Nachhaltigkeitstage (Bern Sustainability Days) offer plenty of varied inspiration for a sustainable life.

From 6 to 19 September, everything in Bern will be revolving around sustainability. Events kick off on Saturday with the opening celebration on Bahnhofplatz and in the Berner Generationenhaus (Bern House of Generations): From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the street is closed off to traffic and turned into an inviting promenade. Colourful stands with information and activities as well as seven different themed stations inform visitors about the latest developments in sustainable nutrition, mobility, energy and clothing. A culinary area with treats from the Provisorium food truck and the summer bar in the Generationenhaus keeps visitors fuelled for the day. And two musical highlights against impressive backdrops await in the afternoon: a folk-pop-rock concert from the Bernese band Irma Krebs at 1 on Bahnhofplatz and the 30 singers of the “Bern Chor 21” in the Generationenhaus courtyard. Now that is literally music to our ears!

Visitors can look forward to an exciting programme revolving around sustainability in the two weeks that follow. Over 60 organisations invite you to take part in varied activities, including a walk through the Bremgarten forest listening to a fragment of the earth’s history and a scavenger hunt for the whole family.
