The Viehmarktplatz square regularly serves as the backdrop for the town’s fairs, and during the festive season it hosts around 180 stallholders for the annual Christmas market. The colourful mix of goods ranges from handmade crafts and natural cosmetics to knitwear, braces and socks. The food is just as varied: sizzling bratwurst, buttery Nidletäfeli (Swiss caramel fudge), golden churros and crisp spring rolls tempt visitors at every corner.

Guest from all over Switzerland flock to the lively market. And for those who still haven’t had their fill, the festive spirit continues the following weekend, when the Viehmarktplatz hosts a smaller version under the motto “good things come in small packages”. More than 20 stallholders return with their wares, joined by musicians whose performances are sure to bring a touch of Christmas magic to every visitor.
