A jazz group performs at the Take Off Concerts at the Langnau Jazz Nights

Langnau Jazz Nights

When the sound of saxophones rings out from the Kupferschmiede and smooth melodies float across Viehmarktplatz, everybody knows that the Langnau Jazz Nights are in town. For over 30 years, this festival in the Emmental has drawn big names and fresh talent from the jazz scene.

Step into the world of Langnau Jazz Nights and you’ll quickly realise that jazz isn’t just music, it’s a way of life. The festival plays a key role in supporting and promoting the Swiss jazz scene. Visitors don’t just get to enjoy concerts from world-renowned artists like Christian McBride or Joe Sanders, they also benefit from their experience. Learning and exchange have always been at the heart of this festival. It’s no surprise that the Jazz Nights have been awarded the Emmental Culture Prize. Nurturing young musicians is a clear priority here.

During the festival, renowned tutors lead intensive workshops for all who are keen to dive deeper. A special highlight for participants: they get to perform their newly honed skills live on Viehmarktplatz, the same stage that welcomes young bands from around the globe. And the festival doesn’t just delight the ears. Foodies are in for a treat too. Expect sustainable, fresh creations from the young team at Restolike, flavourful curries and veggie burgers from Zum Topf, or top-notch sushi by Tosho Yakkatokuo. Langnau Jazz Nights are a true feast for the senses where music and enjoyment come together in perfect harmony.
