Megamarsch Bern
50 kilometres by car? No problem. By bike or e-bike? Doable. But on foot? That’s a true test of endurance. For the brave aged 18 and over, this is a chance to take it on: 50 kilometres and 510 metres of altitude to be completed within twelve hours. There's no ranking list. It’s all about participation and perseverance. Some may call it crazy, but plenty are up for the challenge, because tickets are almost sold out.
The starting point is Bern’s UNESCO-listed old town. From there, more than a thousand walking enthusiasts set out through the outer neighbourhoods, followed by stretches of autumn-coloured nature, before heading back into the federal city. But beware: just as the city’s landmarks come back into view, an extra loop leads participants away again towards Ostermundigen, Muri and Wabern. Only then is the challenge truly complete. At the finish line, every Megamarsch finisher receives a medal and an official place in the Hall of Fame. The exact route will be announced two weeks before the start, but a rough outline has already been published.
On the event website you will find a variety of blog posts and background information on all things Megamarsch. Recaps of past events, safety advice and general tips and tricks help participants prepare in the best possible way for this challenge.
