It’s that time again: From 22 January to 12 March 2026, cultural institutions will extend their opening hours every Thursday evening, set up a bar and invite guests to enjoy the Museumsbier from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Museumsbier has become a tradition in the city of Bern. And once again, a museum from the Emmental will also be participating: you can go for beer and culture at Burgdorf Castle from 19 February. The Bernese Oberland is also part of the series – with the Art Museum Thun participating until 26 February 2026. The following eight institutions are part of the event series:

The participating museums have come up with many exciting ideas to turn your after-work beer into an exciting cultural experience. Examples? Score points with your general knowledge in the pub quiz at the Bernisches Historisches Museum, listen to wild stories surrounded by interesting plants in the Botanical Garden, or try Qajaq beer from Greenland at the Alps. Museums and beer? A perfect match. We’re raising our glasses to museums – cheers!

Please note that culture passes (for reduced admission fees) are not accepted. Admission to the exhibitions is an unbeatable five francs, paid as a surcharge on your first drink.
