In Bern, there is a lot to do on the International Day for Biological Diversity, whether in the heart of the city or out in the Bernese countryside. Numerous events give interested visitors different insights into all things flora and fauna.

When the sun goes down, the night owls get their turn: observe the fascinating life of bats, silently hunting insects above the heads of visitors, on an evening walk in or around Bern

During the daytime, you can explore the Hasliberg hills or the area around Bern with binoculars in search of rare birds and cheerful song.

And even seemingly unspectacular places such as gravel pits turn out to be true treasure troves of nature. Families can go on exciting guided tours, discover animal inhabitants, polish sparkling stones, or run around on the playground.

Curious nature lovers can also find out how orchids successfully overwinter, how butterflies are bred, and what measures are taken to help endangered species in Switzerland.

In short: the nature festival inspires and informs, with playfulness and plenty of aha moments.
