Bern lies in the middle of Europe and in the heart of Switzerland. This makes the federal city perfect for events of all kinds, as it is quick and easy to reach and very well connected. Bern should be at the top of the list when planning your next bleisure trip.

Event venues
“Nothing ever seems impossible in spring.” (L.M. Montgomery) – time to get to work, set new goals, aim high, and focus on teamwork! Find the best venues in the region for inspiring conferences, meetings, retreats or team-building events.
Gurten
Leave the city behind – or rather, below – and head up the Gurten. At 858 metres above sea level, you have an incredible view of the federal city and all the way to the Bernese Alps. The Gurten is the perfect place to relax, come up with fresh ideas, and combine business with pleasure. There are 13 modern options for conference and events of all sorts on the highly popular local mountain. When the work is done, go for a “Fübi” (after-work beer) at one of the two restaurants and spend the night at the elegant hotel to wake up refreshed and ready to tackle whatever the new day brings.
Wankdorf Stadium
An event with a view of the legendary football field where history was written? Sign us up! If you’re planning your next large event, we recommend considering Wankdorf Stadium. The home turf of Swiss champion YB can accommodate up to 1,150 people. There are also various function rooms for meetings or other smaller gatherings. Eleven, to be exact – like the number of players per team. And all of them have direct access to the grandstand. The perfect prerequisites to let your imagination score – erm, soar.
Romantik Hotel Bären Dürrenroth
The air is abuzz at the Bären – and not just in its blossoming garden, but also in its function rooms, where creative sparks fly. Traditional yet modern, the historic hotel offers four unique meeting rooms, 31 charming hotel rooms, a relaxing spa and a GaultMillau-awarded restaurant, providing bleisure guests with the perfect setting for a successful retreat surrounded by nature. And its traditional Bernese garden is a beautiful place for a break while working on new projects.
Amante Airport Hotel
Plan your next event at Amante and let your ideas take flight! This venue is conveniently located next to Bern’s city airport in Belp – the perfect location for a successful meeting or seminar in a unique setting. You could, for example, have your event in the neighbouring aircraft hangar, complete with boarding pass and check-in, and then head over to the garden for the drinks reception with a view of the runway. If it gets late, participants can stay at the modern airport hotel.
Thanks to its central location in the middle of Europe travelling to Bern with environmentally friendly means of transport such as trains takes no time at all and in Bern itself, almost everything is within walking distance.
Complementary activities outdoors
There are countless outdoor activities to enjoy in Bern when the weather is nice. How about joining a guided tour that celebrates the local aperitif culture? Or visiting alpacas and learning more about organic farming on one of the region’s farms? Or maybe you’d prefer an e-bike tour through lush landscapes with beautiful views?
Complementary activities indoors
“April weather, rain and sunshine both together”, as the saying goes – which is why we’ve also compiled a list of entertaining indoor activities. Whether you’re a gourmet, a creative mind, a history buff, or an amateur sleuth: there’s something for every taste.
Time-out after you clock out
The cherry blossom trees in Bern’s Rose Garden are a special spring treat. With a bit of luck and good timing, you will get to see them in full splendour. And they are just one of many highlights to discover in Bern after work or on the weekend.
Bern for one
Do you need some time for yourself after a week of back-to-back meetings or a long conference day? There are plenty of different activities for people visiting alone or staying in Bern for work. Whether you prefer cultural events, sports, or an evening at the bar – we’ve compiled a diverse list of experiences for one.
Extend your stay
Since you’re already in Switzerland’s federal city, why not stay a little longer? There is plenty to do and experience. Stroll through Bern’s UNESCO-listed old town, visit one of its many renowned museums, or enjoy a coffee on the banks of the River Aare. And did you know that most of Switzerland’s most famous attractions, such as the Swiss Alps, can be visited on a half-day or day trip from Bern?
