A group of people stand concentrated and curious in a green field. They listen attentively to the explanations of a man holding something in his hands. The atmosphere is calm and tense, characterised by interest and communal learning in nature.
Against a picturesque backdrop of rolling hills and a soft, pastel-coloured sunset, a cow stands quietly in the pasture. A bare tree towers into the sky, reinforcing the peaceful, almost meditative mood. The scene conveys a deep sense of calm and connection with nature as the day gently fades into night. The stillness and the harmonious interplay of animal and landscape allow the viewer to experience a moment of contemplation.

“Bern ist Bio” (“Bern is organic”) is part of the initiative “Berner Bio-Offensive 2025”, which puts organic products from Bern centre stage and promotes their appreciation and added value. The aim is to offer more regional organic products from farm to table, from the farmer to the consumer.

Workshops at five organic farms

Where are the organic carrots at the supermarket from? How do you make sourdough bread? And which useful properties does stinging nettle have? The varied team events on five organic farms in the canton of Bern provide the answers to these questions. Here are your options for active, educational and interesting experiences.

Help out on the fields

Harvest your own veggies for “Znacht” (dinner) – and try to resist the temptation of taking a bite! But the family-run Hübeli organic farm in Kallnach doesn’t just grow vegetables, one of its specialities is actually its oat milk.

Bake bread in a rustic wood-fired oven

At the König organic farm in Oberbottigen, you will gain insight into the art of baking and form your own sourdough loaf, which is then baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. Ready for some breaducation?

Make your own butter

Churn your own butter and take a look behind the scenes of the Sinnpathie organic farm high above Thun.

Dive into the world of wild herbs

In a valley in Eriz near Thun, participants explore the world of wild herbs and learn fascinating facts about common plants such as stinging nettle at the herb manufactory.

Sustainable meat consumption – is it possible?

On the Bio Held farm, you will be taught all about modern organic meat production and then make your own burger patties for the BBQ.
