Bern’s November Windows

When the days get shorter, Bern lights up window by window: Starting off the holiday season, the “November Window” campaign brings a festive warmth and glow to the federal city. Discover a lovingly decorated window a day – each and every one a feast for the senses.

When windows tell stories

From 1 to 30 November, you can discover a new lovingly decorated window every day as they light up the city one by one. Where the 30 windows are located is still a secret. Set out to see them all and experience little surprises and stories for young and old, atmospheric lighting, pleasant encounters, and festive moments that bring warmth and light to the federal city.

Each unveiling happens at a specific time. Check the schedule below to plan your visit.
Drop by at the right time and you’ll find surprises and special highlights waiting for you.
All windows are free to visit and fully accessible.

Most locations are easily reached on foot, but if you prefer public transport, Bernmobil makes getting around quick and easy.
Along the way, plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants invite you to stop for a cosy break.

Opening: Tourist Information
The first unveiling is on 31 October at 9:00 a.m. in Bern’s main station. The “Bärner Novämberstube” (“Bernese November Parlour”) welcomes visitors with the glow and warmth of a Bernese living room. “Schön bisch da – chum doch ine” (“Lovely to have you here – come on in”) is the motto, capturing the warmth and sense of togetherness that defines Bern.

#1: A*Porzellan
At A*Porzellan, the “Festival of Light” shines bright: festive decorations and handmade porcelain mark the joyful start of the Christmas season. On opening day, visitors can look forward to a warm drink served in porcelain cups and winter biscuits. A storyteller will also be performing at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Unveiling on 1 November at 5:00 p.m.

#2: Feinedinge
“Gifts tell stories”, and Feinedinge brings that to life. Thoughtful presents, little tasters and lovingly staged displays show how anticipation for the holidays can look, smell and taste. Unveiling on 2 November at 10:00 a.m. And on Monday, 3 November, visitors can look forward to a small tasting featuring wonderful products perfect for under the Christmas tree.

#3: Vom Fass
At Vom Fass, “The Wise Men from the East” take centre stage. Visitors are welcomed with free mulled gin, apricot punch and beautifully crafted figures that bring the festive spirit to life. Unveiling on 3 November at 4:00 p.m.

Casino Bern celebrates the “Magic of Gifts”: creamy pumpkin soup and mulled wine with a kick make this window a treat for all the senses. Homemade chocolates can also be purchased on site. Unveiling on 4 November at 5:00 p.m.

Restaurant Schöngrün reveals its “Ho Ho Hotspot”, complete with glittering décor, mulled wine and Güetzi (biscuits). Whether you’re more of a Grinch or Christmas elf, you’ll feel right at home. Unveiling on 5 November at 2:00 p.m.

Discover the “Magic of Books” on 10 November at 5 p.m. in Neuengasse. Visitors can take photos in the mirror window on site. The highlight on opening day: an exclusive bookbinding workshop. Participants will create a hand-bound mini book – the perfect Christmas gift.

“Oh du Fröhliche” – Bern’s beloved chocolatier on Kramgasse launches its Advent calendar filled with handmade pralines, nocetti and fine tartufi. Unveiling on 12 November at 5:00 p.m.

#16: The Beef Steakhouse

Bread à Porter awakens to the scent of fresh bread, creativity and craftsmanship. Bread sommelier Patrik Bohnenblust and artist Alex Zürcher bring Christmas pastries to life – where crust meets creativity and oven warmth meets artistry.
