Highlight audio tour “A Digital Journey into Bern’s Past”

The audio tour is your digital city guide for Bern's UNESCO-listed old town. Use your smartphone to learn interesting facts and hear stories about well-known and lesser-known highlights in the federal city – when and how it suits you: after you activate your individual code, the tour is available for 24 hours. You can pause and resume the tour at any time within this period.

After your purchase, you will receive an individual link and activation code via e-mail. The tour opens in your browser – no need to download an app. It works on all conventional smartphones (iOS and Android), tablets and laptop computers. An interactive map indicates your location in real time. You can begin the tour at any given point between Bern railway station and the Bear Park. The order of the tour’s 20 stops can be chosen freely. To follow the suggested order, start at Bern railway station.

All you need for the tour is a smartphone with internet access and a set of earphones/headphones. No previous knowledge or app installing required. The audio tour can also be downloaded via Wi-Fi (e.g. at your accommodation or the tourist information office) and used offline. The entire tour lasts around two hours and covers approximately 2.5 kilometres through Bern's old town. You can always skip stops or interrupt the tour and continue at a later point.

The tour is available in six languages: Dialect (Bernese), German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish. You can also switch between languages during the tour. The tour costs CHF 14.90. This is a one-time payment, no subscription required, no additional fees.

The tour is completely self-guided – there’s no group, no meeting point, no fixed times. You are free to choose your route and explore Bern at your own pace.

The route is accessible and free of obstacles. The audio content is calm and easy to understand, but not in easy-to-read language. A written version of the audio track is available, but cannot be customised. Navigation between the stations is possible only via a map and requires a certain sense of direction.
