Slow up Emmental-Oberaargau
For the 18th time, the roads between Huttwil and Sumiswald are closed off to motorised traffic for the regional Slow up. Hop on your bike or skateboard, put on your rollerblades and kneepads, lace up your running shoes or hiking boots – as long as it doesn’t have a motor, it’s allowed. There is even a bike rental on site, but it does require prior reservation. Lush green hills, picturesque valleys and traditional farmhouses provide an impressive backdrop along the route in the Emmental and Oberaargau regions.
The best thing about this traffic-free day: It costs nothing, and everyone sets their own pace and distance. There is no fixed start and finish point. And there is plenty of entertainment and refreshments on and off the road, including food stands, musical entertainment, a cleaning service for sunglasses, and a bit of floorball. There’s something for everyone at the Slow up Emmental-Oberaargau. The event is preceded by a warm-up party with a bar and entertainment on Saturday.
Good to know: at the Slow up, there is no such thing as bad weather! The event takes place in any weather.
