In addition to the manufactory in Murten, there is a Monnier store at 26 Schauplatzgasse in Bern. Its selection ranges from truffles and macarons to pain au chocolat and brioches to Züpfe (plaited bread) and sourdough bread – heaven on a plate for gourmets! They are made using exclusively natural ingredients – no artificial sweeteners or flavouring and no preservatives. The sweetness and colours come from fruits, vegetables, and chocolate, which makes indulging on a Monnier treat even better!

Traditional craftsmanship meets the modern age: the handmade products from Confiserie Monnier are also available lactose and gluten-free.

Naturally sweet

The “Naturally Sweet” treats get the sweetness in their composition solely from the best Swiss chocolate and untreated fruit. If required, honey or sugar beet add additional sweetness.

Unlike the industry norm, Monnier only uses natural colorants extracted from fruits and vegetables. The flour for the delicious cakes and tarts comes from high-quality grain from local Fribourg farmers.

Sweet Monnier delights are of course also available gluten-free and lactose-free – for delicious, carefree indulgence.

Naturally sour

Monnier’s natural sourdough is a living, highly complex ecosystem in which up to 20 different yeasts and 50 different bacterial cultures work their magic.

It takes time for the dough to reach perfect maturity – this is called resting. It allows the very best grains from the Fribourg region to become the basis for delicious, wholesome products.

The natural wheat sourdough, natural rye sourdough and natural spelt sourdough are left to rest for at least 24 hours before the breads, rolls and plaits are shaped by hand and put in the oven. The sourdough breads are considered real gems made from sourdough, small in size but large in taste!

Naturally crispy

Plaits, brioches and croissants, the holy trinity of traditional baking, are at their best at Monnier. The finest flour and butter, both top-quality products from the region, form the basis.

Monnier adds time, patience and a love of baking – which becomes evident in all the products, for example in the beautiful, many-layered puff pastry.

It is no coincidence, then, that the croissants have repeatedly been named the best of their kind. And to ensure that no one misses out on the delicious baked goods, Monnier’s premium bakery specialties are also available gluten-free.
