Restaurant Veranda

Just a five-minute walk from Bern's railway station, but far from the hustle and bustle of the city, is a building steeped in history. If only the walls could talk: Built in the 19th century as a silk manufacturer's villa, the stately home was later the residence of French ambassadors and in the 20th century was transformed into a prestigious park hotel. Carefully restored, it now houses the Veranda restaurant, a place where warmth and joie de vivre are palpable.

The menu features dishes from all over the world that have been recognised by GaultMillau. Whether it's Iberian ham with melon for the small appetite, artichoke ravioli with chickpeas and sage for fans of Mediterranean cuisine or a bami goreng with smoked tofu for the veggie heart: what is served here is seasonal and predominantly organic. Fancy something sweet for dessert? Be sure to order a homemade ice cream!

The international dishes are served in the light-flooded dining room and, in fine weather, in the cosy garden under large plane trees or on the upper terrace - the veranda.
