Matte Brennerei

Absinthe and gin have been handcrafted right in the middle of the Matte neighbourhood ever since the distillery was founded in 2016. Both products are truly Bernese – grown, distilled and sold in Bern, but enjoyed all over Switzerland.

The heart of the distillery is the 150-litre still, where absinthe and dry gin are produced. Everything is done by hand, from processing the wormwood to distilling, bottling and labelling. Some of the wormwood is even grown in Bern, while others come from Boveresse in the Val de Travers.
