The most beautiful farm shops in Bern

Published: 16.05.2024

The freshest produce can be savoured where the fruit comes from, where you can watch the animals graze and, with a bit of luck, take a look in the barn yourself. So, grab your bike and set off.

City of Bern

Barry-Hof, Schüpberg

Have you always wanted to take a look inside the stables of a farm? Park your bike and set off on the signposted tour of the Barry farm. Here you can find out more about the farm animals, farm produce and everyday life on the farm. Insider tip: The barbecue area on the farm offers a marvellous view of the Jura. Fortunately, the ingredients for the barbecue don't have to be lugged along, but can be bought fresh on site in the farm shop. Just watch out when the affectionate St Bernard dog "Oyra" comes sniffing round: she's always happy to have a bite or two.

Farm shop Feller, Ruchwil

Not only can you enjoy delicious, homemade "Muck's" glacé from Seeland with a beautiful view, the Feller farm is also an insider tip for photographers. In spring, for example, the cherry blossoms on the trees in the meadow bloom beautifully and invite you to stop for a few snapshots. In summer, the cherries are harvested and sold in the farm shop. A regional lemonade from "Bänz" can also be bought here as a refreshing thirst quencher. The perfect stop to feel the warmth on your skin on sunny days and celebrate the cosy Bernese way of life.

For all those who particularly love strawberries, this wonderful activity can be revived in Köniz. There is a huge strawberry field near the hamlet of "Bindenhaus", where the popular red fruits can be picked from around June (and "es het, solangs het", it has as long as it has). Perfect for a snack on the go. For (amateur) confectioners: Get out the baking utensils at home, fire up the oven and surprise your loved ones with a delicious homemade strawberry tart.
