5 questions for GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area
This time, Beat F. Hostettler from the association GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area answers our five questions – and offers insights into his role as president and as a connector within the Bern Network.
Yves Vonarburg from Miduca nominated GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area in the last Bern Network News for “5 questions for …”. You are the president of the association. What defines your role – and what motivates you about it?
As president of GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area, I see myself first and foremost as an ambassador for the gastronomy sector. I’m committed to strengthening the industry’s image and being a personal point of contact for our members. What I find particularly exciting is the geographic diversity – my goal is to connect urban and rural areas and help them grow stronger together.
Tell us about the services and area of impact of GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area.
GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area is a key player in the region’s gastronomy sector. The association offers a wide range of services and represents the interests of its members on political, economic and societal levels. With its strong network, it actively supports the growth and continued development of restaurants and hospitality businesses in and around Bern.
Beat F. Hostettler, GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area
Beat has been involved with GastroStadtBern and the surrounding area for 13 years – and has served as president since 2022. He is deeply committed to supporting the region’s gastronomy sector.
For the GastroStadtBern association, networking is essential. This year, you’ve also become part of the Bern Network. What do you value about it – and how can you benefit from it?
Being a Bern connector is a valuable opportunity for us. It allows us to expand and deepen our network in a city shaped by dialogue and collaboration.
The Bern Network offers inspiring exchange and fresh ideas. This strengthens not only our role as an association, but also supports the wider gastronomy sector in Bern. Together, we can generate ideas, create synergies – and actively shape the future.
Bern, I love you …

And finally, the obligatory question: who are you passing the ball to for the next interview?

Many thanks for the insights!
