Useful information

Only around 35 minutes by car from Bern, this diverse area stretches from the Napf peaks to the Jura Mountains, offering everything from lush forests to gentle hills. But it’s not just the scenery that impresses. History buffs will find plenty to explore here, from the city of Langenthal, which was already settled around 4000 BC, to the medieval town of Wiedlisbach.
Highlights include the Cistercian abbey of St. Urban founded in 1194, the baroque Thunstetten Castle, and the Grünenbreg and Erlinsburg castle ruins, where the past meets the present in striking ways.
Another must-see is Aarwangen Castle, where visitors can explore the ancient walls and visit a fascinating multimedia exhibition on the region’s history and economic heritage.
